I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Tonight (February 22, Ash Wednesday), this was our Psalm of the Day (1-17). In a sermon that I heard one time on this text, the minister said that David caught a bad case of P.M.S......Power, Money, Sex.

I can't express how glad I am that someone else thought to put the Psalms to music just as they are, nearly word-for-word. I'd considered it myself, but I didn't think I had the talent to do so satisfactorily. I wish I had known about Sons of Korah earlier! This is a good day.

What a beautiful and humbling psalm. It's so true to what our reaction should ever be before God. He does not regard the pround, but looks upon the humble with favor, for He alone is worthy of our boasting. If He should mark our transgressions, who would stand before His throne of judgement? For He alone is holy and righteous. Still He is the God of mercy, who takes no pleasure in taking the lives of sinners, but rather for us to repent of our wickedness and be restored for His name's sake.

I love how they used the melody of the well known song 'Create in me a clean heart' in it. I love the whole song. Psalm 51 always touches me.
