What is that machine called?

When I was a kid, I used to go to the river, find a piece of driftwood and hit rocks all day. I would also swing a sledge hammer around in the back yard. I was a pretty good hitter.

Nope, not right. I tried to help your buddy Reddick. Your pushing with your hip and your arms...100% out of pattern.
The hands do not beat the hip in a high level swing.

Do you have any other advice on stance and making contacts because it seems that i have all of a sudden been striking out more and my stance feels different?

@kennyk2007 Squats can be okay, as long as their full-function(deep-knee bend) squats. At least I think thats what they're called. I, & everyone I play ball with call them full-function squats, but what I've seen online is some people calling them deep-knee bend squats. But in some instructions I've seen the heels off the ground & deviating in the knees and feet(ducking the feet, or penguin feet), which is incorrect. Everything(feet, knees, hips) are supposed to be in line w/ heels grounded.

@kennyk2007 HAHAHAHA. Did you really just say that? I'm not saying this is a phenomenal exercise or anything, but you think bench pressing & deadlifts are going to translate into effectiveness on the baseball field? Bench press is the single handed worst exercise a baseball player can do. Something most of you don't even consider is flexibility. Bench press tightens you up in your shoulders more than any exercise you can do. Deadlifts are terrible for back flexibility & shoulders as well.

Doesn't that excercise make your elbow down and make you swing fly ball?

@mikematij2 tht sucks...cuz i weigh 130 n max at 205 n i like to pitch damn i should of knw tht
JLee...point well taken, and I agree with your view of "functional" exercise being overdone. However, I define "functional" or "sports specific" as purposeful exercise. Exercises that have purposeful carryover to the movements that occur on the field are not only rightfully placed in an athlete's training program but necessary if you want to maximize performance. This and other exercises I recommend are based on real world results with some of the top players in MLB.
