Why are the majority of Go Pro HD videos on youtube in 4:3 format? Shouldn't HD video be in 16:9 or 16:10?

@Frankpro1 The HD HERO has 5 resolution modes. In r4 mode, it shots at 960p, which is an HD 4:3 format. Many times it is advantageous and/or necessary to use a taller field of view, and that is when this resolution mode becomes a shot saver. Videos you see shot in r4 (960p @ 30fps) will typically be edited to playback in their native 4:3 aspect ratio. Don't be fooled by the aspect ration, High Definition is determined by the lines of resolution - not aspect ratio.

full hd means 1920x1080 pixels.

if you cut 4:3-format of 960 to a 16:9-format you get 1280x720 pixels, which is so called 'half hd' only.
