On October 10-11, 2009, we will gather in Washington, D.C. from all across America to let our elected leaders know that now is the time for full equal rights for LGBT people. This is simply a major national strategy to kick start our national grassroots Equality Across America campaign. We will gather. We will strategize. We will march. And we will leave energized and empowered to do the work that needs to be done in every community across the nation. This is only the beginning.

Our single demand: Equal protection in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states.

Our philosophy: As members of every race, class, faith, and community, we see the struggle for LGBT equality as part of a larger movement for peace and social justice.

Our strategy: Decentralized organizing for this march in every one of the 435 Congressional districts will build a network to continue organizing beyond October.

"We will continue this fight in every state, in every county, every city and every town, but we are now determined to take this fight to the federal government, to our President Barack Obama, to the Congress and the Supreme Court of the United States." -Cleve Jones, May 31, 2009, Fresno, California

Not someday. Today. If we want it and if we are willing to do what it takes to make it happen. We do not have to wait for Congress or the President to make us equal. They never will. Civil rights have never been won by lobbying or by asking. Whoever told us it was acceptable to be happy with crumbs of equality tossed our way once in a while was wrong. Every single one of us deserves nothing less than full civil rights right now and anything less is unacceptable.

  • The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision. ~Lynn Lavner

  • it makes sense though.................................. he is simply saying that its something Christians do... he isnt saying that is wrong, just that he wants you to know that marriage is a biblical thing, and for the record... just because others do it doesnt mean that they are doing it right... but please dont get me wrong, i support you guys, just i felt this person was trying to do say something he/she thought, and was flamed for it.

  • America is a republic... FYI.... just saying....

  • Everyone should have the Freedom to marry the one they love!

  • Do gays really want equality? That's what the signs say at protest rallies. However.....many gays are in favor of hate crime legislation. That means inequality in sentencing for crimes. It is hypocritical to ask for "equality" when you at the same time asking for inequality for crime punishment.

  • Okay! Thanks for setting me straight. I can tell by your ability to type that you have great ideas. Very grown up too. I will bow out of this debate with you cause I clearly can't match your wit and reason. Hope I dont sound racist. Cause I'm not, I just hate all people the same. Christians, Whites, Blacks, Mexicans, Pagans, Gays, Straights, Eunuchs, people that don't like music. People with AIDS, people who can't spell AIDS, sharks, the Kennedys, Mother Teresa, etc., you name it. Take care.
