The drummer seems to be a bit overpowering, but it may just be the mic on the video recorder not balancing the sound.

It's a bit of both, the drummer did overpower sometimes AND the mic doesn't balance well.. it also wasn't the best spot for the best sound.

my steel band is playing this right now and when the "rant and rave" part comes up, everyone sounds stupid because they dont know whether to speak it or sing it...its funny

They have the energy at the starting of the song, but then you start to see it fade. The drums did over power at times. To be honest I looked at all UNT videos and listened to their audio, and I have noticed that when it comes to SOCA or Calypso music they are only using one strumming pattern and it gets boring after like 10-15 bars. So they need to work on things like those. other than that they are ok.

The drummer's name is Mike D'Angelo, now he's the drummer for the 2 O'clock steel band and, last time I checked, drummer for the One O'clock lab band.

okay, I admit I may be missing some info, but isn't the UNT steel band from University of NOrth Texas?

or are you from Arizona and just saying that Arizona is a better state?
