Im a black writer. The book does not seek to exploit the family or the story. The author set up the Henrietta Lacks Foundation to benefit the family. A portion of the proceeds from the book goes to the Foundation. The family was unaware of most of what happened to Henrietta and her cells. Only with the authors help did they find out what they had wanted to know: the truth--the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I must get this book I read some of it on Amazon and its totally amazing how a African American women treated in the colored section of the hospital ended up helping people all over the world.What an amazing story and what an amazing women.I will buy the book its tragic how she died and devasting how they never paid the family how appalling.I hope with the film coming out that the family will finally get what is owed them.I feel like there should be a holiday in her name also.

I'm reading the story and it's disturbing story, It doesn't feel right, they might had done to her and her cell something... that's why her cells grew and grew inside her also, I think some day the world will have to know what those doctor had done to her.

amen, amen, amen, they need the right representation, i know some of these family members, and they are living the ghetto life, sad day in america, if i was a descendent of some-one who contributed to the world, and living like that. All the awards dont mean squat, get da lute!....they are entitled, it couldnt be the Salley Family!.....we would owned half of jhh. Its a sad story. JHH, really fucked them, and still fucking people.

thats why now, they should be compensated for all the disgrace, deceitfulness, shame, yea, we had it bad back than, now its called law-suit, just because you grew up poor, dont mean you have to be poor, years later, especially over this, they are entitled to be compensated, they did this without their knowledge, being poor and black back than, they had no chance, but today her fam, should be millionaires, say what you like, thats what jhh, is all about today, using people, to become even richer.
