This is a cover of the Yazoo song "Nobody's Diary." Marie Haddad did the singing, I did the music/production. This was largely an experiment to see what could be done with the cheesy old Casio MT-400V, which was used for all the sounds in the backing track. The video consists of a slow pan across the Casio's control panel. This MT-400V has a nice resonant analog filter, which was used heavily here. Some other effects were used on the Casio sounds, most notably a pitch shifter on the bass, to get it down an octave lower.

  • very cool. I've got a 400v myself. What pitch shifter did you use for the bass notes? I've always wanted to be able to get an octave lower on it.

  • i can't remember offhand... maybe a sony plugin?

  • This is fantastic !!!! was this seriously all done on this casio mt400v ??????

  • yes, all the sounds are from the casio, though i've manipulated them to varying degrees on the computer.

  • Excellent !!!!

Another poster here mentioned the myspace page of the lady singing.... what is it please ? would just love to get my hands on a hifi quality version of this song :)

  • Damn How have I missed this

    great version great voice !!!!!

I can't stop listening to this

  • super impressive! I'd probably have bought this back in the 80s! and a great homage to Yazoo. Well done mate!

  • I like this and the singer is very good.

  • Very good work, well done!

  • Hey brilliant version of a good old Yazoo chart clasic in May 1983, well played & sung. I've a few keyboards including a Juno G I've just bought. I play loads of Gary Nmn, sing & play the old classics for elderly groups, record bits of my own stuff & other but music is just a hobby. Nice 80s model casio, good drum sounds & keyboard sounds. Cheers from Rich
