Seems quite useful, especially for keeping hands dry and warm in the winter when there's snow. I'd still prefer electronic motion amplifyers like Servomatic and eMotion, but there would probably be a market for this.

Thanks for the comments. It's always a personal choice, and the Wijits obviously require some degree of arm and hand mobility. From a "use it or lose it" perspective, I think the primary benefits are a more comfortable range of motion (reduced shoulder stress), and increased cardio through the use of the larger muscle groups. Have the wijit for our son....jaysen has quadriplegia CP so we had to modify the hand grips....and customize the chair rather extensively....this being said, the wijit really makes it possible for jaysen to wheel around on flat surfaces and maneuver much better ( in home and at the store without creating further spasiticty /fatigue in his arms....check jaysen out........by clicking his ...turner5149

A great product, I tested one of the early prototypes. But best for individuals who have some hand dexterity. Not so great for quadriplegics with our movement but no hand grass/finger function. minimalistic and function is required

Hi, and thanks for the comment. The inventor himself is a quadriplegic, with limited use of his hands. Following the early prototypes, I know he designed a shifter paddle attachment to make shifting easier for users suffering from a variety of conditions that reduce hand function. It looks like a copy of the NuDrive invented in 2003 by Robert Orford, apart from a couple of small differences it appears basically the same.

Except he didn't invent it. It's largely a copy of NuDrive which has been around for a decade now. I'm surprised it isn't in breach of patent and copyright to be honest.

So, I encourage anyone who is an active, and( spastic) quadriplegic to view the videos and see how difficult and awkward for Jaysen to maneuver. Then compare with the greatly improved levers (patent pending) notice the difference to power his chair without constant aggravation to his existing condition or knuckle bashing into walls also arms rubbing and back and neck problems from wijits current wide grip and static vertical levers .

My son was not nearly as mobile in the Wijits without the added position able lever system Patent pending-positioned on the inside of the wheel. At first all involved in getting the wijit for Jaysen said that the wijit really may not be for him. But my husband already knew what he would do. He encourage jaysen’s therapist to visit his website and the rest was history...............
