@tp72chev Freakin'a burn more coal! Screw those people on the wrong side of town. Screw the environment. All that matters is your property value go up and you have electricity. How many of you does it take to screw in a light bulb? One, all you have to do is hold onto the bulb and the world revolves around you. Freakin' NIMBY, no wonder the US is slowing down in technological progress, people like you can accept no change.

they are huge!!! i actually saw them myself i go to that school that is actually right by them

The United States leads the world in total wind power production... but only 2% of the wind energy is converted for generation of electricity. In order to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, the US plans to harness renewable energy. Transformer company, Pacific Crest Transformers has more on wind energy on their website. It has been partnering with the wind energy sector since 1985.

Complete waste of taxpayer dollars. 70% of the time those turbines will be producing exactly squat.

"Waves lapping on the shore"?
Listen to what turbines REALLY sound like:

What most people haven't heard is that it will take 43 years of producing electricity to pay for these giant toothpicks. And yes it does reduce my property value the same way it would if you put an airport nearby. Yes it is a tourist attraction, but the tourist isn't the one looking to buy my house. and who would want to when it sounds like an airliner is landing in my living room on a windy day. Thank God there sitting idle more than they are moving.

you really have to see these in person... the Pigeon Wind Farms shown here and the larger one outside the Bad Axe area are incredible

America does not have an electric energy problem. America has a liquid fuel for transportation problem. My perception of public support is it is shallow and poorly informed. Nevertheless the technology will lower the value of residentail property on thousands of square miles of america and for nothing. If wind power is such a great idea why does something like 50% of the ROI have to come from the federal treasury instead of the wind?

Actually, surveys consistently show 70%-80% support for wind power, since it is the cleanest large-scale power source. Wind farms around the world have surprisingly become tourist attractions.
And just wait until the petroleum available for the U.S. to import begins dropping by 10% every year. That will put a stop to gaswasting terrorist supporters who drive around and whine about wind turbines.

80-100,000+ acres in Huron County have been leased by wind farm speculators. State planners are working on wind farm ideas for Saginaw Bay and the Lake Huron shoreline. Residential, recreation, and shorefront property values in the county are being destroyed because no place is excluded from wind farm development. This is taking place regardless of whether more wind farms are built. Nobody is shopping for a wind farm dream house.
No evidence suggests wind turbines have any significant impact on lowering the wind forces while grabbing its energy to turn the wind turbine. So, wind turbines would have no affect on reducing the impact of hurricane force winds; any wind turbines installed in a hurricane area would in all likelihood NOT operate during periods of high winds. The Harvest Wind Farm turbines shut down after 10 minutes should winds reach a sustained speed of 45 mph, and shut down immediately at 72 mph.
