During a bench test I started to lose control over tail movement till it completely failed and started spinning out of control. The tail drive gear's upper pulley had separated/slipped the shaft and no longer drives the belt thus no yaw control....fortunately this happened under controlled conditions!! I ordered Align's Tail drive assembly for the SE so all HK-450 owners beware....this part WILL eventually fail you so fix it before it fixes you!

  • Thats why i went with the EXI-450 prob the best 450 class helicopters, that is half the cost of a T-Rex.

  • o yea i love that .. happen to me ,, a tree caught me and let me go un damaged . . replaced it . .. the clone ended up slowly being what it was cloning! lol .. imagine that!

  • Alright this is what I did, get some 5 min epoxy, put it where the slippage happens on the shaft, let it dry a little longer than 5 minutes, tug on the bearing to see if you feel any slippage, and if not, let it dry another hour, it's gonna be ROCK HARD and I have had over hundred flights on my hk-450 bare bone kit ($20) and no slippage yet, recently checked again and still rock hard. Just make sure the e-poxy don't go on the bearing, just on the shaft and inner bearing circle. Goodluck

  • I had the same issue with my first HK450. I got another gear set but also drilled a small hole through the gear and shaft and put a pin through it so I could fly while I was waiting for the new parts, which actually worked really good.

  • same problem happened to me today while in my first flight. anyone have a link to a video of the fix? I'm new to 6 channel heli's and could use some help fixing this

  • Buy the HK-450GT CCPM 3D Full Alloy Helicopter Kit. Never buy the plastic versions spring for the extra 10 bucks and this wont happen.

  • I also want to buy a HK-450 from Hobbycity but i'm confused because they have several HK-450 such as the TT pro, GT pro belt-drive, GT full Alloy etc...

If you know the difference between these helis please help me pick one!

  • frist off in helis rules you not to bolt the heli down it put tons of strees on the heli the head and blades

  • thanks for your reply! I figured it would fit on there pretty tightly, I just didnt know if that was going to be enough to hold it, and stop it from slipping to! Should I put some loctite on the shaft or anyting like that?

  • No, the tail drive issue has not been resolved as yet, I don't think it ever will be.

Just gently tap the drive pulley on the shaft with a hammer.

    That will do it :-)
