man, i have to wait til im in swat to get one. im in california. dam california gun laws

im going to b a police officer in the near future and i can say that the gun laws dont realy do much to bad guys from what iv seen. i live in a small town and iv still seen people get busted with full auto guns, sbr's, and high cap mags. i mean do people realy think bad guys are going to follow the law? they are only hurting law abiding people with these crazy laws

@455eley Well yes I'm aware of the North Hollywood incident but those firearms were illegaly accquired even with the 94 "Assault Weapons" ban and the 86 Machine gun ban. Ironic they were able to break to Federal Firearms statutes as if that isn't a lesson for the antis

@NRAdude check out the website bears in the behive (best source of info I have found on the north hollywood robery) the type 56s that they used were illigally converted from semi auto guns however with the way parts kits are regulated now you would have to design and make all the full auto parts (trigger parts, auto sear and the bolt carrier) from scratch and drill a hole in the reciever screw it up and you have a lamp post.

@cohgamer the only problem with the right law enforcement is that they are not always there tp protect you or me. but my 870 is. in america the purpose of our second amendment is to be able to protect our selves from any thing trying to do us (serious) harm whether your talking a criminal or a "gon bad" gov't. if we have a corupt gov't its our constitutional right to over throw it. in order to that, citizens need to have accsess to military style fire arms.

A lot of people don't know WHY the military ordered shorter barrels. It was when they were going house to house with M-16's (etc) in close quarters, when they realized, "Woah. We keep running into each others barrels. We need these shorter" So the M4A1 was born.

@cohgamer Name one shooting in the US with military ordinance (i.e. artillery shell, grenade launchers, RDX, Semtex, RPGs, etc) in the US. There isn't one. And no, in most states you can have a machine gun "transferred" to you but you have to go through a rigorous licensing process and background check with a Federal registry. It's not something that is sold over the counter. Not but one crime has been comitted with a legally bought machinegun since 1936. The 1 was stolen from its proper owner.

@cohgamer I didn't say Ireland. I said Northern Ireland which is still part of the UK where as the rest of Ireland is not. None of the "Assault Rifles" which you can buy over the counter here in the US are used by any military anywhere in the world. Militaries use fully automatic variants of them. So these guns are not military weapons. No you can't legally buy automatic weapons in most of Europe but criminals get them anyway which is the whole point.

@NRAdude Ireland is a whole other story. If major riot in the USA someone would also take out their heavy guns. And by "military weaponry" i don't mean heavy mgs and rocket launchers. I mean assault rifles which civilians also can buy, but only in semi-automatic mode. We don't sell automatic firearms in austria, germany or other european countries i know about. And i'm pretty sure, that in the USA you can buy, in some states, automatic firearms. And there are shootings with "military ordinance".

@cohgamer Nearly as high? We've only had one high profile incident in the past 50 years involving fully automatic weapons like that and those guns were illegally imported. The guns you can buy in the US are semi-automatic, not fully automatic as those found in Europe. Never have we had an incident that involved military ordinance.

@NRAdude i didn't say it's impossible. Just more difficult to get some hardcore weaponry like that. And i don't think that the whole incidents concerning weapons like that in the european union combined would be nearly as high as in the USA. Europeans are accustomed with not having guns, since we were never really allowed. I don't say, that looser rights won't work (ex. Switzerland), but in our case, yes it does. With the right law enforcement, we don't need armed citizenry.

@Breakneckhydra1 Even with Europe's gun laws, criminals can still get military weapons there. Just ask any of the dead Israeli athletes at the Olympic games in Germany who were gunned down by Black September armed with fully automatic rifles and explosives.

@cohgamer Why don't you enlighten all of us as to how Black September and the Red Army were able to get fully automatic weapons and explosives into Germany if their gun laws were so strict as to "limit" the use of military weaponry there. It's European countries like Great Britain and the UK that champion gun control as effective when you have the IRA walking around Northern Ireland with belt fed machine guns and Rocket Propelled Grenades...

Yea but the government came and TOOK all your guns about 15 yeas ago, so your people have yet to be able to get anything INTO THE COUNTRY thats not the AUG (your country's army's weapon) or a 12ga hunting gun.

In America, we will ALWAYS be allowed to have guns because of our SECOND AMENDMENT (the right to bear arms), so more guns laws do nothing but hurt the law abiding citizen.

@JonRamboCA if there would be as strict regulations in your surrounding states as in CA, i think there would be less military weaponry going around like now.

you can see, that gun regulations can limit the use of military weaponry, in european countries. i live in austria, and also in a very rural community, and the biggest gun i've seen so far is a 12g remington and a AUG with only single fire mode. And our regulations aren't even as strict as in germany.

Silencers are great for target practicing and competition. By reducing the maybe more people will be willing to come out and get educated about guns and guns safety, instead of living in the unrealistic world of "less guns creates less violence"

For all the nay-sayers for law abiding citizens from carrying personal weapons, states that have open and concealed handgun permits have lower assaults, rapes, muggings, and robberies. The reason this country faces such a large amount of gun violence is because there are so many unarmed victims waiting to be preyed upon by criminals.
