A visit to the Los Angeles studio where the Rolling Stones worked on Exile on Main St. through the winter of 1971 (they also worked on Let it Bleed and Beggar's Banquet in this same room). It's from my upcoming book, Led Zeppelin Crashed Here.

  • L-you're flat out wrong--some was cut at Nelcotte--a lot was done at Sunset Sound--recording/mixing/ etc.

  • This is "It's Funny," a bootleg piano track from Mick in '72 that can be found here and there. If the Stones weren't so leery about bootlegged material this would be a great track for him to redo for a future album -imagine it with strings, the "You Can't Always Get" treatment.

  • this is their best record

  • best record ever made.

  • THE best record ever made

  • Sounds a little like "fool to cry" or something moody off of their next album"Goat's Head Soup"?

  • Gents, do a search for cocksucker blues. It's a recording off the movie. It's all Mick. And there's a reason it was never released on an album. Given the time it was done, you must agree it didn't measure up with anything they put out out on albums. Big Stones Fan!

  • yeah, you mean like keith plays all these open chord songs. I don't know what they are all waiting for to release these tunes or rework them into an album. Good stuff though. This really sounds like it would be a Fool to Cry type song.

  • I don't know - I think Keith has too many out of tune ballads to his name already. Maybe Mick with a kind of Let It Loose backing. Man, these guys could make 40 albums based on outtakes!

  • I was thinking more along the lines of "all about you" with keith singing it. cant really see thing song swelling into a crazed gospel can't get want you want. what you think

  • NICE ...

  • Hah, first off i thought, wow, geeky vid. but then again, I'd do the same thing if i were there, so, man, thanks for posting. Great stuff, historic place...
