@SONGSTICKS win7 is crap for music production? not true. I'm running win7 and I don't have any more problems than I did in XP. it certainly doesn't crash on me all the time. not sure what the issue with ur mkII is but it could also be the software Abelton your running. do you have the latest updates for win7 and Abelton?
Do you have to have cuemix in order to make a Motu interface work on your pc?
I got a Motu 828mkII, loaded the windows7 drivers which seemed to work until it started making my whole pc crash. I've heard that win7 is crap for music apps and that winXP is more likely to work with the Motu. Would you agree with that?
@ColdGripHandle This is the EXACT issue that brought me here... looking for solutions.
Not only did they Bullshit us with the input, EQ and FX portion but they gave us a lag infested GUI. At least the old cuemix we could drag and make all channels visible, this one doesn't even do that!
I just downloaded the long demanded cuemix fx software for 424 cards and guess what ? It still doesn't work for 424 cards. Its only a new gui that bogs down your pc. There are no MIXES,OUTPUTS tab.
Even the INPUTS tab is limited it only shows the faders and mono/stereo.
I uninstalled the new drivers and put the old ones back in.
I just got myself a bootfair bargain of a Motu 828 mkII for £10 in mint condition and working.
I registered with Motu and got sent the drivers for win7, which loaded ok and Ableton sees them, but when I select the motu as my audio source I get an error type 25 message.
Do I have to have cuemix in order for this to work or should it work straight into ableton.
@FBuilding I've found using less of the cuemix features keeps me less confused with my audio settings. I like to use it only for volume control and let my recording software handle the rest like setting up audio output. Afterall the main goal is to tighten your skills with your audio program to get better results not spend huge amounts of time with fx features with your audio card.
Is it possible to route individual outputs form something like ableton to each output in cue mix? So if you had an 8 track ableton session each track output would come out an output on the back of the motu so you could run them to outbaord gear?
