I'm building a waterproof MP3 speaker system for float trips. This is the first live test of all the components including:
- 4" Waterproof Marine Speaker
- 7W Mono Amplifier
- 12V 8Ah Rechargeable Battery

I have my Zune hooked up to it, and the speaker sounds great! In the video it sounds almost like bees humming, but that's the crappy microphone on my phone. In real life, this thing sounds unbelievable for how ghetto it is.

You can see all the gator clips attaching various wires to the amplifier. These will be replaced with permanent fixtures when I'm ready to transfer everything inside the 1 gallon water jug.

  • Are you going to use a younger sibling to test for shock?

  • LOL, nah, I will be the first tester. I've actually tested it in my pond... fish seem to be fine.

When we open our pool this month, I'll hop in with it, see how it does.

  • how are you going to test them to see if you won't get shocked?

  • I've tested the speaker without the battery inside to see if it's watertight... It is, so there won't be a worry of getting shocked.

  • Looks good. You've just got to make the guts fit the shell now it seems.

  • That one will be easy, I've already fit them in there and planned it out before connecting anything. It should allow for ample room once everything is set.

  • I'm thinking more or less "floating" in the pool. That's how waterproof this will be.

  • thats pritty cool if there really waterrof you can put them by the pool and never worry about people splashing
