Raiden IV (JPN 360 version shown. Footage taken from a level 1 to 3 replay I did when I got it the other day. Downsampled from HD unfortunetly.

  • do the bombs take out everything on the screen? or only a certain area? cuz that pissed me off about Raiden III's bombs. that they would take up the whole screen and destroy everything,

  • You have two types of bombs flash bombs and area bombs

  • Can you get score by grazing?(rubbing ship against bullets without dying?)

  • No its not like psyvariar

  • why do the new raiden games make me sick?

  • To tell you the truth, i haven't tried a lot of bullet hell either. I only play the games from the Touhou serie and i also tried the original Dodonpachi on Mame. Some Bullet hell like Mushihimesama simply don't make me want to try them because it looks really too much hard. The other problem is that i haven't any one of the 2 HD console. I only own the wii and there's no shmup on it. Also there's only like 1 or 2 game centers in Switzerland and i don't have the time to go there.

  • i did take you as a "bullet hell hater" but i actually like them, too, but my love for them is simply overshadowed by the more "arcade" twitch-action shooters. to tell you the truth, i just have not experienced too many bullet hell shooters and i wish to, just to see what i am missing. it's too bad more of them don't make it to the xbox 360 (dodonpachi is one series i really want to try out, as the true fans seem to adore it neverendingly...)

  • Well, when i asked my question, it may have looked like i dislike danmaku but actually i love this type of shoot more than normal shooter. I can finish every game in the Touhou serie without continuing but i still have hard time to finish Thunderforce 3 & 4 and with an arcade stick on top.

    Anyway it is cool to see that some shooters nowaday are still not about dodging hundred of bullets but dodging super fast bullets like Raiden 4 And your game which looks promising by the way.

  • i know what you mean. we're making an indie shmup (Duality ZF) which actually has a bullet hell mode but the game is not bullet hell except for that. i have no idea why no one hasn't made shmups harder in the thunder force series type way (fast reflect) instead of the bullet hell type way (subtle motions). even raiden is more subtle motions than fast reflect, almost a hybrid of the two. playing a fast shmup game before playing raiden can leave you completely unprepared for its style.

  • Is this one of the only recent shooter which is not a Danmaku?
