Mac VS PC(02) - Conflicts VS Resolutions. Reflections of the past & considerations in the future. These are my thoughts on past Mac VS PC debates on YouTube that I have seen since September 2008 - where in some cases it turned into serious arguments. Admittedly, it was a lot more annoying for me in 2008 than now.
There's NO discussion on tech itself in the video. Instead I hope to instigate some discussion and consideration on the human nature behind the debates. Those who are fed up with the arguments may be interested in what I have to say about alternatives that save time and money, while producing effective content. Ultimately there's nothing wrong with debating (but it can be time consuming for those who only debate out of 'necessity' - & in a few instances it has gotten out of hand - hence the main reason for the video).
The rest is OPTIONAL reading only.
Addendums (*ADD01-5) explained...
(*ADD01) - 'Fanboy' behaviour is annoying (no matter which 'side' it's from), but maybe the reasons behind it can be understood, even if not excused. Is counter-arguing about tech dealing with the root of the issue?
(*ADD02) - Remember the main reason for the video was to convey my thoughts where Mac VS PC debates HAVE turned into serious conflicts - and in a few extreme cases, worse (explained later in the video).
(*ADD03) - People use computers for many different professions. The Pro user description is NOT limited to those who understand programming code or hardware (even tho understanding some areas in tech can be beneficial). Far too often I see insults being thrown at those who don't (such as the words displayed on the title page of this video) - and all too often, it is merely an emotional reaction rather than logical reasoning.
(*ADD04) - Having the last word does NOT automatically mean 'winning' the argument (any more than a football team wins by scoring the last goal, when the other team has scored more than them) - particularly when the other person has made irrefutable points. The tactics sometimes used to 'get that last word' should IMO be considered pointless - as should trying to 'win' arguments.
(*ADD05) - Everyone has every right to remain anonymous. The criticism is aimed at cowardly trolls who open up fake accounts to flame and act like assholes, while hiding behind a screen name.
___________________________________________________________________________
I realise that tech itself has played a part - but that is only part of the issue. As such it was not focused on in the video, but may be discussed in the comments section. Now, I too hope we have for the most part seen the end of many long Mac VS PC conflicts (as well as a few of those in other areas such as consoles, smartphones and tablets). Wishful thinking, maybe - but now I'd like to get back to work as a musician.
Mac VS PC(02) - Conflicts Vs Resolutions is a collection of my thoughts, compressed in 15 minutes. Other people may have other ideas which I'd be interested to hear or read.

Apologies for the lower frame-rates compared to Part 1. As seen, the size of the file and different video speeds etc (all processed with a mobile GPU and non ECC RAM) meant I had to render it in two parts. But I have no problems with that - as long as the message is conveyed. Also bearing in mind this is really the first time I have spoken on YouTube, so if I come across as a bit of a dipstick, you will understand why...

@renegade8164 Indeed - the 'market-share' thing was a HUGE bugbear every time I saw it. I got called a name or two back in 2008.
Recently I commented about it here - [youtube.com/all_comments?v=qc QbCq1KBqc] - I'd be interested to know what others make of my comments there. Since I'm a music tech guy who's only used OS X & mainly Logic Pro, code & viruses is not my territory. But yeah that was one thing that would piss me off no end as well.
Most of my thoughts of that are in that vid.

Many trolls thinks they know everything about both's side and keeps telling myths as facts because that is what they know. I've been called a fanboy of every side, just because I like to tell the fact of myths on both's sides. I use OSX, ArchLinux, Windows7 daily.
Personally, I dislike myths about security that 'normal users/trolls' never understands it's false;
- "There is less or no virus for the Mac/Linux because of the market share"
- "Windows is more secured because of more updates"
etc.

Having replied to jeanbelmont I now realise that below his comment was one about 'shitty windows'. Just to let people know that I cannot share the sentiment (a) because I hardly use windows and (b) because I have many friends on here that have good things to say about W7 - which is what I replied with. No-one has said either Windows or OS X cannot be used professionally. Indeed at the Sounds Expos I saw both being used equally.

I'm repairing PCs since 8 years ago, at first I tought windows was crap, but after all this years I'm proud to say I havent to formated my PC for at least 2 years (and last time I did formated my PC, was because my Hard Disk Drive died) my PC runs flawless and boots faster than any Mac ive seen and has no viruses, no spyware, etc... it can runs linux and macos smoothly on VMware and Virtual box. After all this years I realized that Windows is made for profesionals, not for common people

@jeanbelmont No offence but did you actually watch this video? Sounds to me like you're here only because you have an axe to grind against those who have dissed your system.
I'm not here to prove / disprove what you said about boot times - tho there are many real time boot-up vids on YT involving a Mac, a PC and a stopwatch. To me that's the only effective illustration. I'm pleased you have a great system & 8 years experience - and no-one here has said Windows isn't for professionals.

in my opinion they all have flaws lol:
linux: free, fast, secure... but very incompatible with many programs
Mac: fast, secure, and compatible with word and etc.... but fucking ripoff
PC: cheap and fully compatible featuring best upgrades for gaming and etc. but of course, there is shitty windows.
I personally dual boot linux mint and Windows 7

@Andy180084 Cheers for your input :-)
I agree that all 3 will have flaws of some kind.
I respectfully disagree with Macs = ripoff being one of them. Maybe most of the Apple line-up will be too EXPENSIVE for what some users need from a machine - but there is a big difference between that and OVERPRICED. There are SO many factors to determine the price of a product related to manufacturing costs, form factor, build, inc. software etc. Different types of machine - different users. (Goto 2)

(from 1) As for the other two OS's - I must be one of few Mac guys who have rarely used anything else. I hear many good things about Windows 7 - maybe one day I'll have a nice studio separate from the house, where in one room I have a couple of Macs & all my studio equipment, and in another I have a custom build and a few games - completely separate from my music. Tho by the time that happens, who knows what will be around then :-)
