@AegisBMD Well, let's say there's no actual mission. The ship is simply on patrol with a carrier group. It must carry missiles 2 defend the carrier & itself & some offensive missiles as well. It can't go with no missiles on board. In this case how many of each of the missiles would carry? That's what I meant by "usually".

@StiviGun1 There is no set missile load. It depends on the mission and inventory of weapons available.

@AegisBMD That's awesome. So a ship equipped with Aegis BMD can also launch anti-aircraft missiles and cruise missiles in the same time. That's powerful stuff. BTW, do u know what is usually the mix of the missiles carried by a cruiser or a destroyer? How many Tomahawks missiles, SM-3, RIM-156A missiles a destroyer or a cruiser usually carries in one mission?

@StiviGun1 The BMD ships still carry thier ship defense and strike weapons along with the SM-3. The BMD system is just a small part of the overall AWS, capabile of performing simultaneous missions such as BMD/AAW. Such a test was performed during FTM-11 campaign.

@Kiwisgr8 I have a question for you. Can the cruisers and destroyers that were modified to use the Aegis AMD system with the Sm-3 missiles, fire other types of missiles as well, ike the Tomahawk cruise missile? Or they can only fire the SM-3 missile?
