http://www.antiquemallok.com Frankoma Pottery was started in 1933 using Ada Clay, a light tan color. These are usually the most collectible pieces. The Ada clay was used from 1933 to 1954. They moved to Sapupla, OK and used a brick red clay from Sugar Loaf Hill from late 1954 to 1979. In the 1980's they began using additives and the color of the clay changed again. It went from red to light orange or light pink. Some folks become confused as to the light orange or pink and the Ada Clay. The Ada Clay will not change color when wet, and the later pink clay will darken.
