The spring-assisted Buck Rush 290 is a great every day carry knife. With a 2.5 inch drop-point blade, and 3.75 inch closed length, it disappears into your pocket. The slick aluminum handle and strong stainless steel pocket clip allow a smooth extraction and quick return to pocket. The 420HC stainless steel, drop point, hollow ground blade is easily re-sharpened, and while it will only maintain a "utility sharp" edge for any length of time, it can be brought to a hair shaving razor sharp edge. My modifications include removing the cam-lock safety (I don't feel it's needed), and cutting a few lines of jimping into the back of the blade and handle with a rotary diamond wheel. This specimen was purchased on the secondary market, at a fair savings to me, but even at it's retail price (around $50-60) it's a EDC blade that you'll find great value in. If you have experience with this knife, please share in the comments section.

  • Love ur vids, i Have the buck rush as well, same as you. Also, have Kershaw Chive, Kershaw Leek, and Smith and wesson, Swat, hidden release. But one question, what would you reccomend for sharpening these knives? money isnt an issue so im looking to get a sharpening kit that will put a nice razor edge on it every time.

  • @goMerXxV2 I use a combination of things. First, for edges that need real work, I use the diamond file from my Leatherman on them. After that, I use Croc Stick honing rods. If the edge just needs a little touching up, I'll go straight to the rods. I find it's mostly a matter of good technique, and stropping at the right angle. If you get that down, you can get a razor edge on almost any knife.

  • Hey man, it would honestly mean the world if you do a review on the Buck Lite. It's very cheap, $20 or so. Thanks!

  • @LucMelo31 That's one I've had my eye on. Stay tuned, I'll try to make that happen.

  • your a cool dude you need more views

  • @KalConduitman Well thank you very much!

  • @TheLateBoyScout How much does this knife cost?

  • I bought one about 7 years ago. Best knife I've ever owned! Good video.

  • can you do a vid of sharpening a buck rush please?

  • I have the Buck Tempest which is the same style but with a 3.125" combo blade and I've not been happy with it. The liner lock is extremely hard for me to use. It difficult to get good pressure on the jimping and it is really stiff to disengage. It might just be mine though. Also with the larger blade, I would not feel comfortable taking off the safety, as I have also cut my self from the top false edge. Maybe the Edge is a better size for the design.

  • @TheLateBoyScout thanks so much bro!

  • ah this knife....mines seen hell and back. clip broke, tip of the blade snapped off..yet its still my personal favorite knife! other than cleaning it, ive NEVER had a single issue with it, no sharpening, hell ive never even had to tighten a screw! i got this thing with me everywhere i go

  • I've used a blue Rush 290 as my EDC for a couple of years now and it's been great. No complaints really, and I do actually like the locking mechanism you removed. Works great for me though I understand why you removed it. With oversized pants being a little passe pocket space has become more valuable so I just bought a Gerber Mini Fast Draw but I'll probably also pick up a SOG Blink. Those two are much smaller knives.

  • That is it's the SAME as the older version of the 290. HaHa didn't mean to sound so ridiculous there!

  • This is actually the older design of the 290, which I personally prefer to the new design which integrates the Buck design rolling cam lock. Good review though, keep it up

  • this is one of my favorite edc's

  • Good review...thanks dude, I like the knife and the mods you made make sense to me!
