Stephen Davies dreams of a day when people once paralyzed by spinal cord injuries will rise and walk. But Davies, a PhD, does more than dream. The University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine professor pioneers the research that may one day make spinal cord regeneration possible. Davies' work transplanting specially manipulated embryonic stem cell precursors into the injured spines of rats has allowed the lab animals to regain most of their normal function. Now, he heads toward human trials with his remarkable discoveries that exemplify the research mission at the UC Denver medical school.

  • driven by his dream..inspired by people who are in need..moved by a quadriplegic superman..lead him to a research that will promote regeneration of cells at the spinal cord!

  • @tylerting

I´m also quadriplegic with enough strength in my arms to push myself around. No hands

  • Very interesting and inspiring. I visited the Anshutz medical campus a few weeks ago, very technologically advanced. The problem with this video is that Chris Chappell says he's a quadriplegic. However, he's using his arms to push himself later. He probably meant to say paraplegic.

  • Thank you Dr. Davies and Associates for helping us. I am a 43 year old c5 quadriplegic of 20 years.
