Roan loves to play his Spongebob game on his V-Tech. He will play all of his other games properly, except for this one. There is a part where Spongebob is supposed to jump from crane to crane, but instead Ro makes him fall off the edge again and again. His reactions are so cute! I'm not a parent who discourages stimming; I don't ever want to prevent him from feeling joy, and the flapping is only something he does when he's really happy.

  • This child has excellent speech for a year 4 year old with autism. I know a lot of NT children that hand flap. Where abouts on the spectrum is your son? HFA/aspergers?

  • He is Asperger's and HFA. We have made tremendous, and I mean tremendous strides since taking advantage of our state's early intervention programs. His issues at this point are more sensory and conversational.

  • he is really like my child...how old is he?

  • He's 4.

  • He has autism? I honestly had no clue. He's so cute, nice vid :P

  • I AM Autistic, I have PDDNoS and still I really can't recognize his behaviour in me , or visa versa...it may be he has a less worse type of Autism

  • Cute little boy

  • My son is autistic and does this same exact thing with certain games from his V Tech. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • Ive been doing that ever since I was little, still do it now and I am 25!

  • cute! :) What is it with kids being so into Spongebob?

  • I think it's good to teach a balance. For my son his stimming got in the way of him living life. He wouldn't play with toys or talk.. all he did was stim. Of course you don't feel the need to stop this sort of stimming.. your son is looking and speaking to you and playing with toys in the midst of it. If it was the opposite, I think you might have other ideas. My son wouldn't do anything but drum... we had to help him find other ways of comfort.

  • My child hand flaps like yours when excited but shows no other signs of autism. Did you child show other signs?

  • Oh my gosh, how sweet! He reminds me so much of my two children, both of them have Autism.

  • How cute!

He's like me... and I'm MUCH older than he is! Makes me a happy autie to see videos like this :)
