1989 WCSF @ SEA, Game 4. This game hasn't been reaired on ESPN or NBAtv. LA rallied from a 43-14 score in the 2nd Qtr (29 pts), and they had only 1 fast break in the entire game. The Lakers swept the first 3 rounds of the playoffs that year before Scott and Magic went down with hamstring injuries, causing them to get swept by Detroit in the Finals.

  • That was a fantastic game, I remember watching it live. The coaching move of the century was when Riley replaced all the starters and let the Sonics run their run out. When the starters came back in you could sense it was going to be special. Too bad Byron and Magic injured hamstrings prior to the final (Magic during) The way they were playing could have been the threepeat.

  • in the 2002 western conference finals, Marv Albert said "Lakers did it in Seattle back in 89", this is the game he was referring to

  • Seattle were celebrating way too early against the 2 time defending champs

  • I remember this. This was one hell of a ball game. Seattle came out on fire but the fire went out late in the game. The Lakers really had there act together and had magic not been hurt they would have swept detroit in the finals. The 80`s was the golden age of basketball, the 90`s were different, the 90`s didn`t know any other player than bull breath jordan. I got so tired of seeing him everywhere I didn`t bother to watch it anymore. The NBA became the MJA.

  • Seattle loved their SuperSonics. Listen to this amazing crowd.

  • McKey is dunking on every laker except coach riley lol

  • @PeekaPeep i think the 89 lakers would have been the first and only team to win all of their playoff games without a single lost. magic was in his prime and he was unstoppable

  • Did you know that the game was blacked out here in Seattle and they showed the Pistons-Bucks ECSF Gm 4 instead, which aired at the same time. But fortunately after that game ended, they switched to this game with 5 minutes remaining and unfortunately, we got swept.

  • seeing my old heroes in a game like this always makes me happy

  • haha I love it when the LakeShow makes opponents' fans STFU'

  • I loved that Laker team, the last playoff run by Magic and Kareem. I remember that season when my Bulls were fighting the Pistons, and then Detroit came back to the NBA finals...

I hated the Pistons so hard...but what a complete team men. I think they had beaten LA if Magic were heakthy anyway.
