dive rite nomad bc at redondo...just testing and trying to get hoses routed etc. fun but I need to refine it a bit...next time will be using proper stage kits, maybe wrap a hose or put myflex hoses in place to make things a little easier on the jaw. Need to get more hours in on this rig

  • Next time loop the hose around the back of your head and then into your mouth, works great depending on which side you have the bottle ;) It'll take the tension off the mouth piece and stream line your rig. As for the other side you might have to get one of those regs that allows you to change the direction in which the hose enters the 2nd stage, to bad atomic wont do it.....Apeks does.

  • yep I finally got it all dialed.I have now done about 6 dives with this rig and the 1st one was a learning experience. Having the poseidon on a swivel helped and now i am just using a 7 foot hose. The main improvement was using a proper stage kit. The ones on the at video are homemade ...now I love sidemount diving. You just don't see anyone doing it in Los Angeles.

  • Hmmm will try that next time thanksfor the tip

  • I'm sure you have worked out all your kinks by now, and I'm sure you'll agree that the best advice you can give to anyone who is getting into sidemount diving is the following:

    1. Route both hoses around the back of your neck, keeping one on a necklace, and the other on a clip with a hose tie.

    2. Use a neck tie on both your bottles to keep the clip up against the valve... so the bottle sits nice and snug under your arms.

    3. Use a 90 degree elbow at each second stage. Nice on trim.

    Cheers.

  • Also consider getting away from the yoke set up and go all DIN fittings. On a typical side mount, seven hoses aren't really necessary. On mine, I use around four feet or so (I can't remember the exact measurement). It's just enough hose to wrap both hoses around my neck and have the hoses come around the right side of my head. If my buddy needs the gas, I just hand over the whole bottle, so the seven foot hose is no longer a necessity.

  • I think you may have misunderstood the use of the bungies. They go around the valves and clip on the chest d-rings so the valves sit under our armpits. You also need to install elbow fittings on your second stages.
