Sorry to double post but something just came to me:
Jane says the Volturi don't give second chances.
#1 Bree never had a FIRST chance.
#2 As Jane herself points out Bella is still human here. If the Volturi really don't give second chances, Bella and Edward should have been killed too.
Bree's death was senseless.
