  • @gbisaga possibly, but look at the way he advised that op.106 could be messed around with-The most likely explanation is again the financial motive-I'm not saying he was debasing his own artistic integrity, but had absolutely no scruples about doing what was necessary to make money-His own standards was one thing, but he saw that the standards of those around him was such that he didn't take them seriously - and was happy to offer-up things to suit the contempt that he probably felt for them

  • @chrish12345 I am not disagreeing with you. The piano does not have the passion of the quartet, especially (though not limited to) the G♭ section and the massive stretto. However, we do have to deal with the fact that Beethoven agreed to arrange it; even if we think it unwise, he obviously thought it best. Also, this seems to me to be the best performance of this piece on youtube.

  • @gbisaga Its obviously a string quartet masterpiece, and can stand alone. Artistically, to arrange it for piano seems a serious mistake - it completely looses its special otherworldly character.

  • @chrish12345 True enough for the reason - probably Op. 130 wouldn't have been published without his detaching Op 133. Though I've read some conjecture that he actually believed the fugue was excessive together with 130. Personally, I think it's a great crowning movement to 130.

  • this doesn't work on the piano, Beethoven only arranged it to pay the gas bill

  • Thanks for the decint recording!

  • With the soul

  • More emotive please, although u did great.

  • I'm leaning some of this...thanks for the recording this is great :)
