A public service announcement warning parents of the symptoms of autism in early childhood. The PSA is written in the voice of a young child, like a letter which he/she would never be able to write to parents because of autistic conditions. The chalkboard represents the possibility of undoing autism, yet, meanwhile, the longer it stands, the murkier it gets, a metaphor for the consequences of ignoring the symptoms.

  • Sorry for the late response to your comment. I'd like to clarify my intention of this video. The target audience was parents of YOUNG children (definition of childhood is time between birth and puberty—young children would mean the early stage of childhood).

This video was inspired by what I read and observed in my past experience as a tutor at an autism intervention, working with children before the age of 3. I had my students in mind—thus asking parents to look for signs at an early age.

  • What a horrible thing to do! First of all, lots of autistic people can communicate, so your statement that an autistic person could never write a letter is clearly wrong. Second of all, poeple who can't communicate still don't deserve to have other people pretend to speak for them like this. I'm appalled.
