A beastly 21M is first, roaring through town with over 100 pigs and another 70 containers. Much of this train is handed over to the BNSF for Los Angeles. I'm not sure how that works in Chicago, whether the trailers are ever grounded at one of the yards in Chicago then rebuilt or if they are already blocked for L.A at Croxton and Rutherford. There are EMP containers throughout the train and BNSF doesn't handle those. If anybody knows more of this operation I would appreciate the information.
After 14N and the Capitol pass, Amtrak's Lakeshore Limited is next at 8:31. I'll be on this train next week baby
3 van trains are next, within 10 minutes of each other. 24M was by at 8:35 with 48 pigs and 33 cons for Pittsburgh and Baltimore, 23W was by at 8:41 with 21 pigs and 132 cons from Baltimore and Croxton, and 20E is next at 8:45. Today's train is pretty pathetic, but that's typical for Thursday mornings out of Chicago. I'm guessing this has to do with the lack of traffic from the west. Traffic out of L.A. is minimal on Mondays then builds through the week. By Friday morning through here, the Tuesday trailers from L.A and other destinations have arrived, creating a much bigger 20E and other eastbound NS hotshots. By Saturday, EB trailers on this line doubles the Thursday totals. 20E has blocks for Croxton, Rutherford and Morrisville, PA every day of the week except Saturday, which now has a new symbol (294) to handle the Croxton traffic, leaving 20E for the PA business.
Can you tell trailer trains are my favorite?
The last shot is of CP train 33T, flying by west near track speed with 53 auto loads and veteran emd's.
The follow up video to this one has a CP ethanol train led by SOO power, accelerating from a stop at full throttle. Beaut
hope you enjoy,

@signalman71 thanks for the info. NS and BNSF started a service last year that i assumed meant steel wheel interchange in Chicago both eastbound and westbound. Is there a simple reason why only the EB traffic (20W) runs straight through Chicago?

21M is an NS train from Croxton - Chicago 63rd street and is primarily a TOFC train. Any interchange traffic off the train should be cross-towned. It does have a fair amount of trailers for interchange to both Willow Springs and Cicero.

@CharlieX90 Oh yea I forgot about triple crown! I saw a lot on 21Z as well. UP handles EMP as well, as does CN lol. Sure would be fun to know where they all go! thanks for the comment as always charlie

Great Video...CP handles alot of EMP containers...maybe they go CP in Chicago? Gotta love the CP trains lately too.. Ive noticed 20E having alot of empty cars on the tail end and triple crown trailers lately on weekends.
