I really enjoyed this clip and wish I have the guts to try and juggle the music like this school did because in choirs, people care too much about being proper and winning points. What it need are creative styles of expressing a song via students' style.
During my days, performances were boring because we focused too much on impressing the jugdges THE OLD WAYS. Scrap the old ways and focus on creativity and free expression of a piece music. That's what you call, true art.

What's the fuss about th conducter moving too much? I think the conducter has to be much moe expressive than the singing because she is their leader. Imagine the conducter standing still, i dont think the members will feel any excitement to perform.

i love choirs and was a conducter myself and I am from convent too tough not in this wonderful theme. I always thought Malaysian choirs are much too rigid because come on, music is where people, in this case students, to express themselves through the beautiful style of music.

actually i was there man...well it kind of cool to see such a creative performance...really impressed...the gesture was interesting too... i was representing johore at that time...still remember vividly how it feel to be there

Not only your choir teacher said, in the actual choral conducting, the conductor is not supposed to move too much that it will distract the audience and the purpose of conducting itself. The conductor in this video is more like dancing than conducting. What is she conducting anyway? Phrasing? Tempo? Rhythm? Articulation? Hmmm, go figure!

nope.. nothin on tat..
i personally feel that the perception on choir has got to change.. it doesnt necessarily have to be downright serious and solemn.. its about time creativity changed the nation's view of choir.. its more than jus the trophy.. u gotta enjoy evry single moment of performing.. ;)
