Pastor Mark Driscoll provides an honest and heartfelt answer to a difficult question regarding abortion and rape. How would a pastor shepherd someone facing pregnancy resulting from being a victim of rape?

Pastor Mark Driscoll answers this question as part of a live "Ask Anything" session in which audience members SMS questions to the pulpit to be answered in real time.

This question was answered in the broader context of a sermon entitled "Is Birth Control a Sin?" which can be found at http://www.marshillchurch.org/media/religionsaves/birth-control

  • I am a survivor of rape more than once. After consulting with numerous professionals, they have always told me that pregnancies as a result of rape are much lower than in a marriage relationship. That is not to say that it cannot happen, because it does - just not as common as pro-choice advocates claim.

Personally speaking, life is a life - and that's my opinion. If you can't handle it, that's tough!! To punish an unborn child because of rape is not the answer. There's always adoption.

  • this is what real Christians are like, not a bunch of homophobic people who dress up and play church

  • A WOMAN body is hers and no one i mean no one has a right to tell her what to do were her BODY,,,

  • Wow...Awesome!

  • @roac7777 I know with you being an atheist you can't help but spout ignorant lies, so let me refute you. Time and time again atheists lie by claiming the crusades were Christians, but they never prove from the New Testament that the crusades were following the commandments of Jesus. The crusades acted like barbaric animals, and if atheists believe that humans are really animals, then what right do atheists have to condemn what the crusades did?

  • @roac7777 I'm not talking about religion, I'm talking about Biblical Christianity. The crusades might have killed in the name of God, but they acted like atheists. An atheist is someone who believes he is just a highly developed animal--the survival of the fittest, therefore he has no absolute moral code. The reality of neglecting the teachings of Jesus has resulted in an increase in evil in the world. Atheism is worse than the black death.

  • @roac7777 "There is not one moral act that a Christian can do, that an atheist cannot do."

Ah ha, but just because atheists know right from wrong doesn't mean they will choose to do what is right. Once an atheist deludes himself into thinking he is just a highly developed baboon, he can justify anything he wants. This is why it's usually the atheists who support abortions, sexual perversion, unforgiveness etc.

  • @roac7777 But my beliefs compel me to forgive and to love everyone. Atheism doesn't teach any morality.

  • @roac7777 Well, with you being an atheist you have the morality of a animal, therefore you have no problem with murdering babies.

  • @hunter7754 This actually happened? Prove it!! Show me the title I should look for online, and then I'll look for it. Otherwise, do NOT tell me to stop talking about my opinions!!

  • @MyFreedomChannel

dude its not a what if game...

    that actually happened

there was a 13 year old peruvian girl that got raped and wanted an abortion to treat her injuries because that was the only way she could get treated or else the injuries would be fatal..

unless you actually have given birth to a child resulting from rape then dont even talk

  • @hunter7754 (Pt 2) Again, pregnancies that happen as a result of rape are very rare, & nearly all of them are physically healthy babies. If a 13 yr old girl attempted to hurt herself & her unborn child on purpose, the responsibility falls on the parents to intervene. Period! Stop with the "What-If" mind game here. Back up your claim with some facts, not b.s. like this.
