Today, was a day with good and bad luck! The bad luck started when after waiting an hour after it's booked time to pass Union Terrace Gardens with 0A67 Aberdeen Clayhills - Aberdeen Waterloo, I walked over to Clayhills to find it still coupled to the Sleeper coaches so that along with 6A67 Aberdeen Waterloo - Laurencekirk & 0A68 Laurencekirk - Aberdeen Clayhills were non-runners so that is a good couple of minutes worth of filming a 67 and Freight workings gone but anyway...
A 170 heads north past Union Terrace Gardens with a service to Dyce, then a walk over to the other side of Aberdeen...
A HST heads north past Doonies Farm with 1S03 07:10 Leeds - Aberdeen, a 170 heads south past the same place then a walk to the bridge you can see in the previous HST shot...
Another 170 heads north for Aberdeen and then a walk to Nigg Bay...
Where that 170 driver in the last clip returns heading for Glasgow Queen St, the same HST then works 1E24 14:48 Aberdeen - Kings Cross then I walk back to Doonies Farm...
Where surprisingly another 170 is spotted heading north towards Aberdeen and that's then being followed by 66416 working 4A13 Grangemouth - Aberdeen.
Now I get on the 1B75 18:16 Aberdeen - Edinburgh Waverley HST as far as Montrose, but it wasn't so simple... More bad luck strikes when after moving about 18 inches, we come to a halt because of a "technical fault" with the train, but this was rectified and we then depart 12' late, but still slowly, because 4N83 Aberdeen - Grangemouth was let out in front of us! (I was hoping to film this at Montrose) But... Good luck strikes for a change! It was put into the loop at Laurencekirk to let us, and the unit behind pass it where it then would follow its booked path south so that meant I would be able to film it at Montrose.
So, now arrived at Montrose, 4N83 heads south at speed in it's booked path and then 9 minutes later, 66720 heads north working 6S60 07:08 Doncaster Decoy - Aberdeen Waterloo Loaded Mud-Oil Tanks running just 36' late (after running 142 minutes late at Newcastle!) - So it made a fair amount of time up!
Hopefully you enjoy the video and I haven't typed this out for no reason... :-)
Do the drivers 'tone' because they have to or are they doing it for your benefit? Anyways great video, the Nigg part reminds me of when I was a child and my dad used to take me there to watch for trains.

All for my benefit :-)
Montrose, the drivers have to toot on approach to Montrose station a a 'Whistle' board because there is a foot crossing.

Great stuff Jord, thoroughly enjoyed the video! Loads of 2tones to keep us happy. Good variety of locations, and ultimately NO you didn't type it all up for no reason! Was enjoyable to read and laugh at :P. Once again top stuff!
