  • @emachines34 Speed in the channel tunnel is 160km/h to fit between the shuttles.

Larger bores are required to reduce the piston effect of fast trains hitting the air in front

  • @railotaku

    i dont understand

why do you need higher bore tunnels for higher speed?

Also I am assuming they dont reach 300km/h in the channel tunnel?

  • @emachines34 Speed is limited by the single bore London tunnels it wasn't deamed worth while to build for 300km/h (would have required 8-10m bores - for 230km/h it is 6m same as the channel tunnel!)

  • so you are saying eurostar reaches 300 when it reaches ebsfleet

thats not good, i thought it would have attained 300 much earlier

  • tell that to the countless train youtubers

  • you are just a waste of time yourself judging people you don't even know

  • ive been there

  • 230 km/h west of Ebsfleet, 300km/h Ebsfleet to the Channel Tunnel.
