Both the government and corporate industry used promotional newsreel type films during the 1950s and 1960s to promote the application and widespread use of asbestos products. These films were instrumental to marketing asbestos and generating acceptance by the public.

Since the early 1900s, asbestos was known to cause illness and disease in workers who handled the material. Even second-hand contact with asbestos can result in a cancer known as mesothelioma. Due to foreknowledge of the danger and not telling their workers, many corporations have since gone bankrupt from paying out billions in court settlement claims against them.

Thought it would be too good to be true...a totally fireproof product that would last for decades and still look good. A product that would outlive YOU.

asbestos is amazing and as long as you leave it alone and don't break it up it's ok. The stinker comes when it is time to get rid of it. All the fibres from cracked tiles, etc. fly around for you to inhale. The production where it is today is likely not that bad because they could use ventilators etc. Still though best to not use it if somthing else is available.
