  • I'd like to know why a lot of folks say that this song is a sexual reference ("when you wubba me I'll wubba you.") This song is obviously a reference to a mirror reflection doing what you do, and not a reference to an adult saying "if I 'touch' you, you 'touch' me." Anyone got any ideas? I'm quite sick of people reading sexual stuff into classic Sesame Street!

  • There's nothing dirty about this. Grover has always been a good monster. If you want to find dirty old cartoons, look up Foghorn Leghorn.

  • @Smartboy8877 if you're looking for sexual undertones in a children's show, that really says more about you than the developers of the show, doesn't it?

  • Why naming it "Monster Version"? It seems like a long version because I saw 2 shorter versions of this songs with both the Simpsons and the other with Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams, and other cast.

  • Given that Grover's audience is human children, I'm not sure if its wise to advise them not to be afraid should they see a monster in the mirror... given that this is likely to indicate that either a monster is behind them. or that they themselves have been transmuted into a monstrous form.

Both, I believe, are considerable cause for freaking out, although it might not be advisable in the former scenario, given that monsters react poorly to sudden movement and may devour the child reflexively.

  • @brightbite

If you look hard enough, you can find sexual undertones in almost anything. However, I agree with you that the creaters of this song and video probably did not mean anything sexual when they made it.

  • omg this brings back memories

  • The Simpsons parody Wubba Song from Sesame Street

  • This is what you do if you see Bloody Mary xD

  • Every time I listen to this song, I think "yeah, sometime's I look like a monster in the morning. " xD

  • This is my all-time favorite Sesame Street song. Only "the Batty Bat" comes anywhere close to this. ^-^ <3
