it would be like Neo from the Matrix was happy before he took the pill. Even when ths was made i bet the dude who played uncle remus lived a life of conflict. Star of the show but his black ass was still entering through the back door.

ZOEgirl567, I agree with you. This is one of my favorite movies I saw when I was a child. I loved Uncle Remus and his stories. I never thought of him in any way other than he was kind and caring to the kids and I loved his story telling. I would love to buy this movie, but its been banned because people have stereotyped it as "racist". There is nothing racist about this. For Uncle Remus to touch my heart as a child, if anything, makes him a positive role model. I miss you, Uncle Remus.

I first saw this when I was 5 or 6.. It just never occurred to me that it might be racist.. or that there was any real difference between people with different skin color.. you don't really learn that stuff til later when adults teach you.

Touch up on your english skills such as grammar and punctuation. You being black doesn't give you any kind of rank or authority either.

Harris who created the Uncle Remus character in 1870s actively promoted racial reconciliation, African American education, and black suffrage and equality. The use of animal characters in African American folk tales as recorded by Harris and told by his Uncle Remus character influenced and created modern children literature as we know it. Potter, Faulkner, Joyce, Kipling were all influenced largely by these stories. There may have never even been a Disney if there hadn't first been Uncle Remus.
