My version of Cream's 1968 hit "White Room", played over a custom rendered backing track, with my Alembic Essence Bass Guitar.

ABOUT THE SONG
"White Room" was written by bassist Jack Bruce (music) and poet Pete Brown (lyrics). It was recorded by Cream between July 1967 and April 1968 at Atlantic Studios, New York City.

Produced by Felix Pappalardi, the single was released in October 1968 and it reached the sixth position on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number 28 on the U.K. Singles Chart.

Jack Bruce, bassist of Cream, recorded the original bass line of the song.

  • Awesome dude! What type of fills are you playing on the chorus? - the slides/fills sound crazy! What scale? Please tell me

  • @vegaarturo Hi, thanks a lot for your nice comment. The chorus' chord progression is C G Bb A (first phrase) C G Bb C D (second phrase). What I play in this video is basically Root Fifth Eighth for each chord on the first phrase and then Root Fifth Major Third (sliding to one octave up). If you need further explanation, please send me a private message and will try to clear it up. Best Regards.

  • really great video !!

  • @gatongod Thanks a lot for watching the video, I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

  • I like this new take on a classic. Keep it going man!

  • awesome man

  • @magnolia972 You've made a point. Nowadays I am using a Musicman Stingray 5 to get a more aggressive sound, which sounds perfect when I play this song live with my band. I am VERY happy with the sound of the Alembic, but its pre-amp is quite tricky, and you better explore it before any serious attempt of equalizing it.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • the bass is really fine and your playing is WOW! but i think the alembic sounds a bit to soft for white room. but for you backing track (a fusion white room?) is is perfect!
