I liked how Carl is working on a book bringing together the ideal of evolution and purpose. As he mentioned there were other biologists around Darwin's time that were promoting the idea of evolution but Darwin's idea of evolution being random and without purpose seemed to win out. Obviously this had a backlash with people of a spiritual nature. Of course some go too fundamental with this idea in relation to spiritual texts, but nevertheless are right that there is purpose and movement to life.
