@jordanBLP1 Noone is opposing studying universe. JWST is horribly over budget. Yes, it would be sad to see JWST get cancelled, because in my opinion science shouldn't be punished because of bad program managers, but there also has to be a limit, so other projects wouldn't suffer. You have to remember that NASA has a relatively small budget.

Russia is able to get up this huge telescope without anyone knowing it, while the US hypes up a project years before it's launch date, and then cancels it. Russia is like the silent nerd in the class who everyone thinks is a giant loser, while the US is the popular guy who doesn't get to study 'cause he's to busy punching ants in the sandbox..
