gosh the pain that he is in right now. look at his tail wag, and him running around. he must be in so much pain. all of you need to shut the hell up. its my dog, if i want to crop his ears. then i will. just like my 3 other danes. all cropped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!­!!!!! Get over it.

@msh464 it depends on the kinda crop you get. shorter crops stand faster(about 3 months). longer crops take longer to heal so there ears could be taped for 7 or 8 months.

@GreatDaneAthena at 8 weeks old yes you can but be sure they know what they are doing lol. oh and if you are asking this question at 8 weeks old than it's all most too late bcause by the tie you find the right vet to do it and have an appointment made the Dane will then be too old, this needs to be looked into months ahead of time not when the Dane should be going to the vet for the crop.

@aardhorde They are still born with non erect ears! AND no there is no exclusive evidence that points to leass ear infections with a crop, infections happen even so with dogs with crop and natural erect ears lol.

@viralmouser Nature created canines with erect ears. IE wolves. MANKIND bred floppy ears into dogs. I see nothng natural about that. There is actual evidence that floppy ears are more prone to ear infections, because moisture gets trapped in them and creates the perfect grounds for bacteria and yeast infections.

He's a gorgeous pup! Er.. adult now, yes. What should be banned? People bringing their matted to the skin dogs to be groomed and refusing to shave. Insisting they be brushed out. Meanwhile, their dog has a severe ear infection, UI, toe-nails embedded into their pads, and teeth held in by plaque. THAT is animal cruelty, not cropping/docking by a vet and proper aftercare.

this is my opinion so dont get so angry. i think they look better with there ears cropped :L but still that is only my opinion

I find all the comments too funny, one says "a Great Dane doesn't look like a Great dane without cropped ears"? ummm ok they are born with natural laying down ears, key word NATURAL and meant BY nature lol, there is NO evidence of a cropped ears to help eliminate ear infections, its called clean your dogs ears people! Cropped ears is ONLY a preferance by the owner for pure showing yourself off but it's legal still and is your choice.
