  • You're watching a 2 minute excerpt of a one-hour workshop, and the participant told me he had never played a buzz roll before. I wanted him to first play the triplets while pulsing (nearly accenting) to emphasize both hands--most people new to percussion tend to unintentionally pulse with one hand more than the other causing an uneven and "metered" roll, as well as roll far too slowly. The next step would be to avoid obvious pulsing while making an even roll between hands. He did a great job.

  • when you talk about don't play triplets you should say don't pulse your triplets in the roll

  • is this the special olympics version??

  • Wow. So the subject couldn't play one before?
