On February 12, 2009, the InteRDom team travelled to the George Washington University in Washington D.C. to participate in its ninth annual Opportunity Knocks Career and Information Fair, sponsored by the Elliott School of International Affairs. This year marked the second time that InteRDom has participated in the fair, which attracts very high-quality, focused and internationally-conscious students.

InteRDom is a wonderful fit within Opportunity Knocks, said the fairs organizer and the Elliott Schools Director of Graduate Student Career Development Angella Griffin. With the connection to the Dominican Republic and the internship opportunities, its a wonderful fit because Opportunity Knocks is a career fair and career incorporates internships, part-time jobs and full-time jobs.

The fair took place in both the Grand and Continental Ballrooms of the Cloyd Heck Marvin Center, and was attended by about 300 students, many of whom passed by the InteRDom stand to collect information about the new internship offerings available to them.

The InteRDom team also used Opportunity Knocks as a chance to network and form key relationships with over 55 other important universities and international organizations in the public, private and non-profit sectors, such as Abilene Christian University, Atlas Corps, Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the Inter-American Development Bank and InterAction.

InteRDom is part of the Elliot School Career Connection (ESCC), an online resource for graduate students, alumni, professors and employees at George Washington University. This online program allows students to register, obtain information about work experiences, download resumes and cover letters, search for jobs and internships, and gain valuable tips on mastering interviews.

InteRDom offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their field of study. The program significantly contributes to the development of the nations employment sector and the advancement of academic research.
