@rshurack a prophylactic move is a waiting move. I have heard it used many times(only in chess), but then again i have never looked the definition up so i could be very wrong.

At 4:35, I must admit i've never heard the word "prophylactic" associated with the game of chess! I guess it could refer to "guardian" thinking, but I'm sorry the only definition I've ever heard of for prophylactic is a condom or "rubber". Prophetic thinking maybe? lol
