  • Another song which suits your voice- ballad with deep tones. Just wish you hadn't left Croydon then we might see you around the various folk clubs here. 3 of us range round SE London and Kent- 2 of us are traditionalists and Frank is upbeat blues so we influence each other in interesting ways and end up playing a wide range. Just hope I never srop discovering good songs to do. Jenny

  • i really loved it in Croydon although i didn't find many FC's at that time (apart from the one in the hall and that had glitter as a back drop..) its always great to have camaraderie and to share folk/acoustic stuff.. enjoy .. i love finding new music.. it just takes so long to learn new songs and string themes together recently.. mike

  • I just love the way you do this song and your laughter is like sunshine. A good spot to end my youtube wandering tonight as tomorrow is going to be a busy day. cheers Barb

  • thanks barb.. hope the day went well.. storms here in the uk.. no sunshine ! lol

  • You are right absolutely Alan but then again i have never been as conventional as to sing any song entirely as it was first written... something to do with the oral tradition that gave rise to so many traditional songs cheers Mike ..

  • @ichingiching Hi Mike. I hate to be pedantic but the chorus I learnt years ago went,

"if I could beg steal or borrow, a ticket on some ship or plane, I'd be leaving London tomorrow to fly to my own love again." But what the heck. Cheers Alan.

  • Thanks Tony.. a good way to start the day.. i remember leaving London...

  • Love Tom Paxton and you are reminding me how much. Another one to add to my list. Many thanks as always. A great performance.

  • excellent song/cover
