Because it is MUCH bigger and heavier than an LS-series motor and yet is not nearly as good at making power. It also has a lot less support from performance parts companies.

I think HEMI engines are usually OHV engines and because of that they don't have as much usable rpm range as what OHC engines got with variable valve timing and variable valve lift.

Also the Asian and European cars that are used alot in drifting don't really have a space for +5l V8 in them.
