Thought I'd try flying my trainer from the street in front of my house. The road looked plenty big until I tried to land!! This was in Tucson, Arizona, on Jan. 15, 2011.
This is an older version of the Hobbico Superstar. A friend gave it to me after it sat in his garage half-built for a few years. The engine is an old SuperTiger .40.
Video was shot by my neighbor with a point-and-shoot camera.

I have the same model and I have a question. Has the antenna wire got to be outstretched? Awesome video btw!

Hello - I'm still flying on the FM-band, so my transmitter antenna needs to be extended. The new 2.4GHz/Spread Spectrum transmitters can use the stub antenna that doesn't require a long extension.

Same thing goes for the airplane antenna. I bring my antenna out just behind the main wing and then attach the end of the antenna to the top of the vertical stab.

  • Thats some great flying. I have a phantom firebird, and I'm scared to fly it in my neighborhood. I need you to show me how to fly a superstar. Just traded for one, and have never flown a gas rc.

Hey there. If you felt EXTREMELY comfortable flying the Phantom and could land it cleanly every time, you MIGHT think about taking the Superstar out alone...if not, definitely grab someone who's flown larger airplanes and hook up a trainer cord (I'm talking from experience here, crashing isn't fun). No sense risking the airplane. I don't recall if the Phantom has ailerons or not, but it's definitely a bit different.

Good luck, post the video of your maiden flight!!

  • Muy buen video de un piloto excelente y del mejor avion entrenador del mundo, el superstar 40 de Hobbico. Yo vuelo uno igual con motor M v v s o.40 , una maza
