  • @nickshel cool, yeah I do like most of those you've listed although personally I'd probably file them in a separate rack to this. Eg Drexciya with more extroverted raw synth style stuff, Kerri Chandler with more melodic/deep/sensual...

I do think it's reasonably unique for the time but would say it's pretty much in line with the sort of stuff Force Tracks (MRI, Swayzak, Crane AK) started releasing around '99 that was termed 'Microhouse' by the press - well, Philip Sherburne.

  • @MrFuckstep Drexciya as well

  • @MrFuckstep Another one that comes to mind is Kerro Chandler

  • @MrFuckstep The Higher Intelligence Agency's earlier stuff, some of Godfather's songs like Funk power (4x4 mix) and some of Strictly Rhythm's early stuff. Obviously there are going to be differences because they are different musicians but I think they are in the same vein.

  • @nickshel I disagree, but it depends on attention to detail and aesthetic quality as well as the general vibe/genre I suppose.

Sure there was electronic music going on in other places, typically as always within our recent history, but just because it had a 4/4 beat, doesn't necessarily mean that it aesthetically equates to this.

However as always it's opinion based so I'd be excited to hear the examples you cite - please fire 'em off!

  • @closedcircuits Actually in the 90s there was loads of shit like this. It was going on all over: London, Detriot and San Fran are a few examples that come to mind.

  • this song is very crunchy and makes me feel so good is orgasmic for my ears

  • really?? this is 10yrs old? crazy

  • :) 10 years old... the San Fran guys were well ahead of their time...
