Hmmm. I don't know much about Stillwell, but I do like their open sound this plug has in comparison to the UAD. UAD sounds more like an 1176 though, for sure. Stillwell has a familiar sound too, but not striking me as 1176.
I dunno...I see people stating that A is way better than B for an X sound but all i hear is subtle differences. The Stillwell sounds more tight in the lower mids but honestly, if there was no visual reference i doubt there would be one person to suggest that this guy fiddles with 2 different plugins...
There is virtually no difference until they really start pumping. Then the UAD retains more life and breath. Winner (if you really want to slam something)...UAD.
@kas2492 I agree, although the differences are very subtle and may be specific to this video, which makes me think that it may be possible to tweak Rocket to get pretty close to 1176LN. In addition, Rocket does not require an external piece of hardware to run, which suits a lot of users who don't run very large projects.
I own pretty much every plugin available and I gotta say that the 1973 plugin is really impressive, the highs are straight hi end, modeled from the neve 1073 series, the highs are so rich and you can tweak em pretty without getting a over saturated signal, I've used the ssl, neve, trident, consoles and damn this plugin truly amazed me
IF U ARE LOOKING FOR A BIGGER SOUND , GO WITH THE ROCKET , Ü WILL BE GETTING THAT PHAT D. GUETTA TIESTO TYPE PARALLEL COMPRESSION. BUT IF YOU ARE DOING CLASSIC OLD ACOUSTIC DRUM SONG, THEN GO WITH THE CLA ALL THE WAY.
