Part 8 of 12.

From Book TV:

About the Program
From the City University of New York, authors George Galloway and Christopher Hitchens debate the war in Iraq. George Galloway, opposed to the Iraq War, is a member of the British Parliment and the author of "Mr. Galloway Goes to Washington: The Brit Who Set Congress Straight About Iraq." The book tells the story of his recent appearance before the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, where he verbally attacked U.S. Senators while responding to charges related to Iraq's oil-for-food program. Christopher Hitchens, in favor of the Iraq War, is the author of "Love, Poverty, and War: Journeys and Essays" and "Blood, Class and Empire: The Enduring Anglo-American Relationship." "Democracy Now!" radio host Amy Goodman moderates. She is the author of "The Exception to the Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the Media That Love Them."

About the Author
George Galloway is the Respect Party's Member of Parliament for Bethnal Green and Bow in London. He won the seat after his expulsion from the Labour Party for his opposition to the Iraq War. Christopher Hitchens is a contributing editor to Vanity Fair and a visiting professor of liberal studies at the New School in New York.

  • there is no proof or evidence that galloway protested hussein, however, there is a video showing him shaking hands and praising him. hmmmm

  • I don't believe Hitchens or any informed person could believe the US went to Iraq with a purely humanitarian motive; that's silly to assume. But whatever the motive the result is not any less humanitarian. Millions of people have been freed from the clutches of a malevolent despot and are living better lives because of it. Was the War fought poorly? Hell yes. Were we there for too long? You bet.

  • HITCHEN "YOUR NOSE IS GROWING"

  • Thank god for youtube. As Galloway is frothing off on how he always opposed Hussein, there's a suggested video of him shaking his hand.

LMAO. Whether you were for or against the Iraq war, I'm pretty sure we can all agree that Galloway is a complete scumbag.

  • @liam511

I don't know about living better in Iraq? that sounds like a stretch to me. However Saddam Hussein is gone from official power.

  • Hitch agrees with u.s foreign dictatorships and support for atrocities but condemns GG for having diplomatic relations with Iraq. WTF kind of reasoning or argument is this? He makes the case for GG's argument and expects us to care weather GG was a alley (yet opposed his government's support of Saddam) at a time when everyone loved Saddam. This is irrelevant to the topic. wtf hitch can push this crap on religion, but Iraq and the world is much more complex, this is embarrassing!

  • @liam511 : I wonder if you'd be so pragmatic and clinical if it was your country that had been invaded, your mother raped, your siblings vapourised, your home blown up. Saddam was evil. But so are our 'brave' governments. There is nothing humanitarian about war and imperialism.

  • @liam511 No matter how many times I hear your line of argument, it never ceases to amaze me. No one regrets the removal of Hussein, but to imagine that our slaughter of 100,000s, our decimation of a country's infrastructure, our destruction of an economy, our plunder of resources, our radicalisation of generations of Muslims, our enriching of the American elite, and the barely democratic government we've brought into that country, is in any way huminatarian, is pure perversion.

  • @adraim69 you watch this video at 2:30 to find the real answer

  • @HirsiWatch Do me a favor, watch this video and tell me if you still think the same way.
