New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge2009

"The New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge® is a not-for-profit event presented by The New Jersey Lighthouse Society, Inc. for the purpose of raising public awareness of lighthouses in general and New Jerseys lighthouses, specifically. It is a rain or shine, two-day event held during the 3rd weekend in October when 11 land-based lighthouses and 2 Frensel lens sites are open for visitation and climbing. During this weekend, the public is invited to visit any or all of the sites along the Challenge route.

At each site visited, participants of the Challenge receive a complimentary souvenir depicting that particular
lighthouse. Collect all 13 and you will receive a complimentary "completion" souvenir at your final stop
to commemorate your achievement."
Site 1 - Twin Lights of Navesink, NJ Highlands
Site 2 - Sandy Hook Lighthouse
Site 3 - Sea Girt Lighthouse, Sea Girt NJ
Site 4 - Barnegat Light Museum
Site 5 - Barnegat Lighthouse (Old Barney)
Site 6 - Tuckers Island Lighthouse (replica) Tuckerton, NJ
Site 7 - Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City, NJ
Site 8 - Cape May Light (Museum)
Site 9 - Hereford Inlet Lighthouse - Wildwood, NJ
Site 10 - Cape May Lighthouse (Night Climb no outside pictures of lighthouse due to horrid conditions outside)
Site 11 - Tinicum Rear Range Lighthouse - Paulsboro, NJ
Site 12 - Finns Point Lighthouse
Site 13 - East Point Lighthouse - Maurice River Township, NJ
Bonus Site was Ludlam Beach Lighthouse located in Sea Isle City

  • Very good. I have been to all but Ludlam's Beach and Tinicum. And I've been inside the Twin Lights and Barnegat Light. All others were closed at the times I visited over the years.

    Also a very minor correction- the Hereford Inlet Light, to my knowledge, is in North Wildwood, not Wildwood. They are separate towns.

    So I enjoyed this video. Thanks.
