These days there are a lot of small cars pounding their chests and claiming they get the best gas mileage around. Well, we got tired of the talk and decided to settle the score. Right here, right now!
We picked three cars from our long-term fleet known for squeezing extra miles out of every gallon of gas: the spunky 2008 Smart Fortwo with a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine, the thrifty 2008 Ford Focus SES coupe with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, with its legendary 1.9-liter "TDI" diesel engine. Then we added a heavily favored gasoline-electric hybrid to the mix: a 2008 Toyota Prius.

BTW... i am not bashing toyota or honda... i am bashing hybrid engines... come on guys, any simple minded idiot would turn the contraption around and have a small gas or diesel engine produce electricity just for charging the battery and run the car just on a powerful electric motor, that way the car would be faster, stronger more efficient and comsume alot a hell of alot less gas... because the gas engine would only run when the battery needs charging... but oil companies pay too well dont they
As for batteries being bad for the world crap, well... the world has been uses those mines for the last 126 years mostly for stainless steel. Toyota has only been using them for 12 years and only 1.5% of the annual out. Which means that if those mines were only used for Toyota, they would only be needed for 3 maybe 4 months, (not 126 years) which wouldn't do any damage at all. Toyota plants are 50% powered by the Sun, not the 100% Coal powered plants like other car companies.
I don't care to change your mind just your false you think you know everything facts.
"batteries that need to be replaced after 80,000 miles" FALSE, in fact a straight up lie! Prius Batteries last more then 350,000 miles, proven by Prius Taxi drivers all around the world.
Prius - 8.6L/100Km Hybrid Civic - 9.3L/100Km Hybrid
How do you explain these numbers? A Hybrid engine consumes more because it is a weak engine with help from a weak electric engine, under a lot of stress to do what a strong engine does with ease.
What's wrong, is BMW and VW having problems selling their cars?
Oh, that's right, Toyota and Honda are killing them in sales! Even Hyundai is killing VW in sales.
That would explain your post.
By the way, here's the reason why the Toyota Prius is killing diesels and anything else that gets in it's way.
$25 = 500 miles of driving in a roomy, smooth, quite car that is the cheapest to maintain and won't brake and has every tech and safety feature being used in cars today.
For all of you that still think Hybrid is the way to go... i say it´s a bunch of baloney!!!! I run a magazine where we do our own test-drives... The numbers the sell the public is all one big cover up! If you drive a Hybrid, you got screwed... not only do you drive a piece of crap that takes an eternity to get from 0-60, but if you actually drive like a normal person, your fuel comsumption is superior to a high powered diesel engine! how about that?
well, if you dont mind getting rained on or not being able to carry a lot of stuff (so say if its not ur only vehicle) then a good motorcycle will rape any car out there.
