A Cappella groups compete on college campuses all across the country. Two groups, The SoCal Vocals and the Scattertones, can be found in southern California.
"The groups at UCLA, and especially the Scattertones, I've seen them, and they are really just not good.....they suck, I've seen them.....Scattertones are horrible"
The VoCals rock. No one can deny that. However, after listening extensively to "Somebody to Love" and "Feelin' Good"... it is not difficult to say that the Scattertones have better arrangers. Let me also point out that as beautiful as "All the Things You Are" is, it was NOT arranged by a VoCal. When the Scatts hit the ICCA stage this year, they will bring collegiate a cappella to a new level. That, is a promise.
Yeah, acapella fans know this! But the "trash talk" was so incredibly funny - and it added nice edge into this video. Whomever put this clip together, great job! - it would be fun to see followups :)
I think all the groups put on a good show at the Marin Center (and RO did a super job at their quarterfinals also). The ICCA is really bringing the best out of all the groups.
Just to clear things up. We have nothing against the SoCal VoCals. They are one of the best groups in the country right now (justified by the fact that they just won the International ICCAs in New York). For the purposes of this video, the people who filmed it needed trash talk to make the rivalry sound better for their pilot. Thus, we were told to say a majority of these things. We are also sorry that RO was screwed over by the editing.
I'm sorry but I went to UCLA and I have heard every group at BOTH school and as much as I hate sc I've always wanted to be a vocal. They have so much more fun and they are overall quite better. I've heard both groups and honestly to say "skill is nearly even" is just crazy. The vocals made everyone (including scattertones) look like novices at ICCA semifinals. just the facts...
I'm sorry. I've heard every group at BOTH schools--just heard the TriTones, Scatts, and Awaken at ICCA quarterfinals. Awaken had more fun, Scatts had more intensity...and SC's fans were ridiculously rude. Skill is nearly even; character, Bruins domninate. Sorry kids.

Lol, ya, this year it isn't much to argue that VoCals are ICCA champions...But hey! Scattertones definitely upped their game. Maybe next year.
